What was Hartalika Teej's full name?

Hartalika Teej is named after the legend related to it. Harat refers to "abduction" while Aalika means "female friend". The mythology tells us that the goddess Parvatihad an acquaintance who took Parvati to the thick forest to guard her against her father, who wanted to get her married to Lord Vishnu

Parvati's father believed she had been kidnapped. Hartalikais an appropriate title that is used to describe the present. To attain Lord Shiva in her life as husband and wife, she had to complete an extremely rigorous "Tapasya" following her abduction. She was determined, dedicated and Lord Shiva was enthralled by her. He took her in as his wife.

The word "Teej" means tiny insects in red they emergefrom the earth during monsoon. Parvati is believed to have visited Shiva's residence when the insects emerged, and therefore they were regarded as man-woman.

In accordance with the Hindu calendar, Hariyali Teej (bright fortnight), is celebrated on the third day of Shukla Paksha, which falls in the Sravana month. Hariyali Teej can also be called Singhara Teej. Hariyali is an Indian word that means green. According to legend, the Earth turns more green in Hariyali after the season ends.

For newly married women, Hariyali Teej rituals are very important. Females are invited to their homes by their parents . They are presented with Shringaritems such as Sindoor (vermilion), Bindi (forehead), Mehendi, henna, Bangles, etc. Parents also give clothes and jewelry to the girl and her mother in law.

Hariyali Teej is the day that married women worship Goddess Parvati. Hariyali Teej is a day to celebrate special events, fairs and swings. Folk songs are also performed.

Hariyali Teej is often celebrated in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and the northern regions of India.
